Wayfinding
Wayfinding is a system of signs, colors, and design elements that helps people navigate and orient themselves within a space, making it easier to find their way and reducing stress and confusion. It's helpful because it improves navigation, promotes accessibility, and enhances the overall user experience, especially in overwhelming or unfamiliar environment.
Directional Signage
The directional design reflects its surrounding in Discovery Park by the trees that engulfs its grounds. I wanted my directional to be tall enough to be spotted at distances to help direct festival goers, so I decided on the form of a tree. Rather than being literal with my tree form, I decided to abstract it and make it look industrial to fit the apocalyptic/ dystopian theme of my system. The self similarity in form and color made my wayfinding system cohesive. The colors are the same as on the handheld map so it is easy to navigate as a festival goer. These signs are made out of recycled materials that are painted and stand at 7.5 feet tall.

Monument Signage
The monument design reuses the same pieces as the directional. The self similarity in form and color made my wayfinding system cohesive. The colors are the same as on the handheld map so it is easy to navigate as a festivalgoer. These signs are made out of recycled materials that are painted and stand at 4 feet tall and are about chest level so they aren’t overbearing and intrusive, but still help people navigate across Discovery Park.
Informational Signage
Informational signage provides essential details and guidance, such as directions, instructions, warnings, or other important information, to help people navigate a space, understand a process, or avoid hazards. It's helpful because it enhances clarity, safety, and overall user experience.
